When I was younger, I would wait to start getting ready for hunting season until a few weeks before the season began. I would not focus on my fitness, I would assume all of my gear still worked as intended, and I would assume that everything would be fine. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that I did not fill my tag very often back then. Success can never be assumed; it is something you must work toward every day.
While it may be the off-season right now, Fall will be here before you know it (and Spring turkey is coming up quick for those of you who like to go after gobblers). You have to pay your dues now for the success you hope to have in the future. Put in the work, put in the time, and enjoy your success. If you don’t want to pay your dues now, don’t be surprised when your lease on success runs out and you go home empty handed.
