I have been using Hylete training apparel for 6 months now and wanted to write about my experience with Hylete products and how they have held up over an extended period of time with heavy use.
The vertex short is absolutely the piece that has all of the technology. These shorts are by far my favorite piece of clothing that I own. The drawstring is still just as strong as it was on day one and the fit is fantastic (I have a 31 inch waist and wear a medium). The shorts come in long, regular, or above-knee lengths, depending on your preference. The zippered pockets are perfect for running or jumping rope as they keep my iPhone 6 from falling out and my phone fits perfectly into them. The other great thing about the pockets is they run vertically down your leg as opposed to crossing over the top of your thigh so they stay out of the way. The only negative I can find with the shorts is that since the pockets run vertically, if you have to do something while laying on your side, you have to take your phone out; a relatively minor inconvenience.
Dual-Blend vs. Tri-Blend vs. Quad-Blend
Hylete makes quite a few different options in crew and v-neck t-shirts. Their quad-blend comes in v-neck, polo, or henley and is a blend of 31% bamboo rayon, 32% rayon, 31% cotton, 6% spandex (I am not a fan of v-necks because of the bad name that deep-v wearing guys in Scottsdale gave the v-neck while I lived there…). Since I don’t love v-necks, I have opted for the tri-blend and dual-blend crews. The tri-blend is 50% Poly, 25% Cotton, 25% Rayon. It is very soft moves moisture well. The dual-blend is honestly my favorite though because the 50/50 cotton poly blend is perfect for wearing outside of the gym. I wear my dual-blend tees everywhere and also love how they feel while working out or running. They are a bit cheaper too, which is always a plus.
If you lift weights, compression is your friend. Compression clothing prevents blood pooling, promotes circulation, and helps to reduce soreness. If you are a man, wearing them takes some getting used to since they fit tightly against everything. Women on the other hand don’t need as much time to get used to how they feel. Either way, I can assure you that once you get used to wearing them, you will never want to go back. Hylete compression clothing (shorts and leggings) is very lightweight and pretty darned comfortable. Their socks are also great! If you have not used compression shorts and socks yet, you should definitely give it a try.
Overall I am very happy with my Hylete apparel and will be buying more as soon as money allows. I have 3 pairs of shorts, 4 shirts, 2 pairs of compression shorts, and a pair of compression socks. I have yet to feel like it wasn’t worth the money and I think you might feel the same way too if you give it a try.
