My wife is a fantastic cook. Only two times in our entire marriage has she made a meal that was not delicious and both times it was the result of someone else’s recipe.
But when I began bringing venison home on a regular basis, she was a little unsure how to go about cooking it outside of the traditional burgers, steaks, etc.
She received The Sporting Chef’s Better Venison Cookbook by Scott Leysath as a gift and it has been the single greatest factor in our venison meals going from good to great!
If you eat venison (which I am guessing you do since you are on this site), then you need to get a copy of this book! My wife and I have tried a large number of the recipe’s in this book and every one has been delicious and a nice change of pace from the usual fare.
The book is broken up into different types of meals with easy to follow, clear instructions.
One thing worth mentioning is that some of the recipes can be pretty labor-intensive, but they are so totally worth it!
