While it appears to be a slow time of year for us hunters I would argue that there is way more opportunity than most realize. Case in point I was excited for a slow down this Spring so I could actually start pumping out some content. Well, if you follow the page, you’ll agree with me that it did not happen. So I wanted to take today to let you know that while I haven’t been writing I have indeed been gathering some great content to share with you and have some exciting things forthcoming.
First and foremost I had some goals I had set this year I have been working towards completing. For personal and professional reasons a job change was on the books. With the change in jobs came a relocation from Illinois to Texas. However, one thing though I did not want to do was compromise the experiences leading up to the move for my children. With that came some Spring time fishing.
In case you didn’t catch on this is also a plug to get your kids or even someone else’s kids outdoors. Besides getting the kiddos out, I had an injury I needed to recover from. I wrote previously about taking care of yourself and that’s exactly what I had to do. Dealing with a case of plantar fasciitis has not been fun but I’m back and flat getting after it. As a matter of fact I hit and all time record for distance ran and had very little pain following the run. Now that I have met my recovery goals I’m looking to fully be prepared for The Rockies in Oct.
Due to the success of HuntingFit.com it has allowed me to reach out to several other authors to share their experiences on HuntingFit.com. This includes the most recent with Kenny Barnes who has embraced the challenges associated with Tough Mudder contests and preparing for elk season. We trained for about a month together leading up to two of the three legs of the Spartan Series which he knocked out of the park. I hope to get his take on these experiences as well as a few other articles we have discussed!
Speaking of moving to Texas, even in the short time I’ve been here I’m seeing that this is a hunter and fisherman’s paradise. I’ve been able to amply stock my fridge with pork and managed to mix in a little fresh fish as well.
Another theme you have seen on my social media accounts is really getting my kids (and a few others) involved in the outdoors. With the job change and a slightly renewed outlook, or maybe different priorities in life, I have been spending a lot of time with the little ones ensuring they are getting all the outdoor exposure they can handle. It comes in many forms from hunting pigs till the wee hours in the morning or a quick trip to the local park to catch teeny tiny fish and crawdads. The only thing that matters is we were out there.
Lastly, I’ve got some amazing products that I’ve been able to spend a little time with. These include the YETI Hopper 12, YETI Tundra 50, Wiebe Knives, Thermacell, Decibulz molded ear phones and plugs, and the E+Ready Series emergency radio from Midland. I have put these products through the ringer and have nothing but great things to say about them. I plan to go and give solid reviews on each but in the mean time go and take a look for yourself. They’ve all proved to excellent performers in their respective categories.
As you can see I’ve been swamped but hope to take my recent adventures and as well as my prep for upcoming ones and share them with you in hopes to inspire you to do get out there and experience life and all it has to offer for yourself.
