Recent Improvements at Wilderness Athlete
If you have been following this blog long then you've probably figured out that I'm a big fan of Wilderness Athlete and their product line. I have been using WA supplements for several years now and have been pleased with the results. I was very surprised and excited when I received a note from them saying they had made some improvements to a couple of their current offerings. I wanted to share the upgrades with you and encourage you to give them a try as hunting seasons are now upon us and it is just as important now to take care of our bodies as it was while we were preparing for opening day.
Hydrate and Recover
I pulled the following information directly from an official email I received from the team at WA: Now, Hydrate & Recover will include ionic trace elements, which are minerals missing in our diets, and help with buffering acids produced during physical activity. The new formulation also includes 60% more L-Glutamine which is an important amino acid that improves stamina and staves off mental exhaustion. I won't pretend to know exactly what ionic trace elements are but if they are missing in my diet and help with controlling what I assume is at a minimum lactic acid buildup (part of the reason you are so sore after a hard workout or day on the mountain) then I'm all for it. Also, as you know amino acids are the building blocks for muscle repair so I'll take another 60%, please. I will admit that I was unaware that L-Glutamine had anything to do with avoiding mental exhaustion but I need all the mental capacity I can get!
Multi-Vitamin
Once again I pulled the information below from a note the experts at Wilderness Athlete passed along: This year, we decided to improve the multi-vitamin again. Why? An increasing number of studies are finding that our nutrient-depleted soils are producing fruits and vegetables that are far less dense with vitamins and minerals than they were just a decade ago. We increased the potency of our multivitamin to help make up for the nutrients that you are missing in your daily diet.
You get:
50% more Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B-6, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, Biotin, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, and more.6X more Vitamin D which plays a significant role in up to 2,000 different metabolic interactions, including immunity, longevity, and prevents chronic ailments. As a grower of my own vegetables and a label reader at the grocery store, I had heard the talk of nutrient depletion running around. I have not done enough research on the topic to give you details of any findings but the concept makes sense. Anything I can do to get the vitamins and minerals that my body needs to perform is high on my list.
When WA decided to up the ante I'm going all in. If you haven't tried Wilderness Athlete products then now is as good a time as any to stack the odds against your quarry in your favor. If you have been using Hydrate and Recover and their Multi-Vitamin with positive results then be forewarned that things just got better. Don't forget to use the code "STAFFORD" at checkout for a 5-10% discount on your purchase. The team at WA is always happy to answer your questions or if you have anything you would like me to run by them don't hesitate to drop me a note and I'll do what I can to get you squared away. So no more excuses, get out there and get it done.
