If you are like me, sometimes you need a bit of a boost to get things rolling. For example, it usually take me about 2-4 weeks to get back into a solid routine if something has caused me to stop whatever it was I was doing. Losing weight can be really tough… especially during the holidays! Due to an injury, sickness, and quite a bit of travel, I recently put on about 5 lbs of non-functional fat weight. I need to cut this weight quickly because I have some fitness and archery competitions that I am training for and I do not need to be carrying an extra 5 lbs during that time. I absolutely refuse, however, to try and lose weight in an unhealthy manner.

It is the most wonderful time of the year! No… Not holiday season. Hunting Season.
While most everyone else is thinking about buying gifts and making desserts, you are thinking about checking trail cams, getting into the woods for the whitetail rut, or training for your late season elk hunt. So what are some steps you can take to ensure that you do not undo all of your hunting prep by gaining a bunch of non-functional weight while still enjoying the delicious foods that come out this time of year? Continue Reading…

Over a long period of time, your ability to resist those little temptations will fade and all too often you will end up giving in and eating something that you know you shouldn’t eat. When this happens you get frustrated that you couldn’t resist temptation and you give up your diet, thinking that it is just too difficult and hopeless.
This is not an uncommon story. This is the story of the vast majority of people who diet.
Why? Why is it so difficult to stay disciplined when dieting and why is it so easy to give up at the slightest slip up? How are you supposed to stay on track with your nutrition plan if it is so difficult sometimes? Continue Reading…
Have you ever been climbing a hill or bottomed in a canyon, looked up at the seemingly vertical ascent before you and thought, “I wish I wasn’t carrying all this weight.”…?
If you have been there (and let’s face it… we’ve all been there) then you know the value of things being lightweight. In a previous article, we discussed the fact that one should be very careful about trying to shed pounds by purchasing a lightweight rifle. While the lighter weight is nice, the trade off is more felt recoil and more pestering by the wind moving your sight picture. So where else should you lose the weight?
